Video on Demand Scenario
The Video on Demand scenario starts with an end user requesting a streaming video to watch. Video on Demand is an online scenario. In many cases, the playback application obtains a non-persistent license for streaming using reactive license acquisition. In other cases, such as during dual-key scenarios where you need a separate key for audio and videos, the playback application needs to obtain licenses proactively so that the keys are available for the appropriate content when needed. Regardless of the acquistion type, the licenses are only valid during the duration of the video stream, and cannot be used for any other media stream.
This scenario demonstrates the following features:
- Output Protection Levels (OPL)
- Non-persistent license
- Reactive and proactive license acquisition
Implementation features this scenario demonstrates are:
- Individualization
- License acquisition
For more information about license acquistion, see Using the Proactive or Reactive Model. For more information about the use of proactive license acquistion for dual-key scenarios, see Using Microsoft PlayReady with Per-stream Keys.
