Modifying internal and perimeter networks
You can modify settings for the default Internal network or for the custom internal and perimeter networks you have created. You can also modify some properties of the Local Host network (the Forefront TMG computer).
The following are some of the specific actions you can perform:
- Modify IP address ranges included in the network (see "To modify the IP address range," below).
- Enable the network to listen for Web proxy requests from client computers on the network, and configure authentication requirements for Web proxy clients. This is the only setting you can configure on the Local Host network. For instructions, see Enabling a network to receive Web proxy requests in Configuring Web access.
- Specify configuration settings for Firewall clients on the network. For instructions, see Enabling a network to receive firewall client requests.
- Configure automatic discovery for Web proxy clients. For instructions, see Configuring Firewall clients for automatic detection and Configuring Web browsers for automatic detection.
- Specify direct access settings for Web proxy clients using automatic discovery. For instructions, see Bypassing Forefront TMG for firewall client requests and Bypassing Forefront TMG for Web proxy client requests.
- Specify domains included in the network. When the setting Directly access computers specified in the Domain tab is enabled on the Web Browser tab, computers acting as Web proxy clients and using automatic detection will access destinations specified on the Domains tab directly. For instructions, see Bypassing Forefront TMG for firewall client requests and Bypassing Forefront TMG for Web proxy client requests.
The default External network, VPN Clients network, and the Quarantined Clients networks are defined dynamically and cannot be modified manually. For more information about different types of networks, see Networks.
To modify the IP address range
In the Forefront TMG Management console tree, click Networking.
In the details pane, right-click the network you want to modify, and then click Properties.
On the Addresses tab, do the following:
- To modify the network adapter associated with the network, click Add Adapter. In the Select Network Adapters dialog box, enable the adapter for the network. Ensure that only one adapter is associated with the network and that an adapter belongs to only one network.
- To add a specific range of IP addresses, click Add Range. In the IP Address Range Properties dialog box, type the start address and the last address of the range.
- To add private address ranges, click Add Private, and then select a range from the list.
- To edit an address range, select the range in IP address ranges included in this network, and then click Edit.
To remove an address range, select the range in IP address ranges included in this network, and then click Remove.
