Using Schema

Creating schemas for an application involves the following two steps:

  1. Create schema definition items for the application.
    Schema definition items are items that define properties and content classes for an application. These items can be in any folder in the private store or public store in which the application runs. Usually, you designate one or more folders to contain the schema definition items for the application, and you add each folder to the schema scope for the application.
  2. Configure the schema scope of the application folders.
    After you have created your schema definition items and put them in a folder in the public store or private store where the application runs, you must configure the scope of the application and schema folders. By doing this, you make your schema definition items visible to the application and to other applications that rely on the schema scope of a folder, such as the Exchange store Structured Query Language (SQL) query processor for SELECT * requests.

You can determine the location of the folder or folders that contain your schema definition items.
