Configure Connection Information for Extensible Connectivity

For this procedure, in Management Agent Designer, on the Configure Connection Information page, you select the step types and export mode that this management agent will perform. You must also specify a precompiled connected data source extension (.dll). If necessary, you can specify logon information to connect to a data source server. To complete this procedure, you must be logged on as a member of the FIMSyncAdmins security group.

To configure connection information

  1. In Management Agent Designer, on the Configure Connection Information page, under Specify the interfaces supported by this management agent, click one of the following:

    • If this management agent can only import identity information from a connected data source, click Import only.

    • If this management agent can only export identity information to a connected data source, click Export.

    Note

A confirming import must be run after the export.

    • If this management agent imports and export identity information from the same data source, click Import and Export.
  2. Under Specify the export mode supported by this management agent, click one of the following:

    • If this management agent will connect to a data source to export synchronized data, click Call-based.

    • If this management agent will create an export file, click File-based.

  3. In Connected data source extension name, type the complete name of the connected data source extension (.dll).

  4. If it is necessary, to connect to a data source, under Connection information, in Connect To, type the complete name of the server, and then type a user account and password.

Note

You can specify logon credentials to generate an import file from the connected data source or create an export file to be passed to the connected data source. These credentials are passed separately from those optional credentials that can be passed as parameters and values if they are configured in the extension.

Note

Connected data source extensions must exist in the Extensions folder of the FIM root directory. By default, the root directory is C:\Program Files\Microsoft Forefront Identity Server\2010\Synchronization Service.
