Lead-Time Offset Field, Planning Component Table

Specifies the lead-time offset for the planning component.

In this field, you specify the time you need to pick this particular component from the supply source before it can be used for a production order. For example, the component might be located in a remote warehouse, and the time needed for transportation would give a long lead time.

The amount of lead-time offset influences the production BOM, which in turn influences the explosion of the BOM in the Requisition Line table. The program calculates the latest acceptable due date of the requisition line using the following formula:

Due Date = Consumption Date – Lead-Time Offset.

Usually, the consumption date equals the starting date of the production order.

This field is automatically filled in with the contents of the Lead-Time Offset field on the production BOM card, but you can change it.
