Scrap % Field, Planning Component Table
Specifies the scrap percentage of the component.
The program automatically fills in this field from the Scrap % field on the production BOM line, but you can change it.
If the scrap percent on the item card is specified, it means that more materials are being withdrawn from inventory than the production order calls for. If, for example, you know that to produce 100 pieces of an item, that on average, you need to produce 105 items, then you would enter 5 as the scrap percentage.
Scrap on the production BOM line will increase the amount of component items picked from inventory without an increase in expected output of the parent part.
