Check-Avail. Time Bucket Field, Company Information Table
Specifies a time period that defines how frequently the system checks supply-demand events on the timeline to discover if the item on the demand line is available on its planned shipment date. The setting in this field also applies to the Order Promising functionality.
If you select Week, for example, then the program checks for availability based on demand-supply events accumulated during one week at a time. At the end of each week, the system checks if the demand line can be covered. If the sum quantity in one of the time buckets, within the in the Check-vail. Period Calc. period, can cover the demand, then no stockout warning is displayed.
Note
Availability is normally checked for the entire period that you define in the Check-Avail. Period Calc. field. However, if supply exists after the planned shipment date that covers all demand at the end of that time bucket, then availability is only checked until the end of that time bucket. For this reason, you may want to increase the period in the Check-Avail. Time Bucket field to discover any existing demand later on the timeline. This will ensure that you get a stockout warning when entering a demand line that cannot be covered because of such later demand.
More Information
This setup field modifies how availability checks are performed in the period defined by the Check-Avail. Period Calc. field. In addition, it adds to define the total number of days in the availability calculation period, as follows:
Planned Shipment Date + Check.-Avail. Period Calc. + days until the end of the Check-Avail. Time Bucket
The Check.-Avail. Time Bucket field functions for all demand lines in a way similar to how the Time Bucket field functions for individual item records.
