EU Country/Region Code Field, Country/Region Table

Specifies the EU code for the country/region you are doing business with. If you do business with EU countries/regions, the EU Country/Region Code and the Intrastat Code fields must be filled in.

When generating the VAT- VIES Declaration Tax Auth report, the two-character value in the EU Country/Region Code field is compared with the first two characters in the VAT Registration No. field to make sure they are the same.

If the two characters are not the same, then the value in the EU Country/Region Code field is automatically inserted as the first two characters in the VAT Registration No. field.

Warning

Greece has a special EU country code, EL. Therefore, it is very important that the standard country code, GR, is not entered in the EU Country/Region Code field as that will cause errors in the VAT- VIES Declaration Tax Auth report.

Use the ISO standard codes for describing the countries/regions, for example:

Netherlands	NL
Germany	DE
Greece	GR Important In the context of EU, the code for Greece is EL.
