SQL Server 2008 Service Pack 1 CTP Released

image I’m a day late with this, I’m afraid, but it’s still worthwhile..

As reported yesterday on the Microsoft SQL Server Release Services blog, Microsoft has released the Community Technology Preview (CTP) for SQL Server 2008 Service Pack 1. It’s available for download here.

The Community Technology Preview program allows you to kick the tires of a new technology without cost. Simply download a platform-appropriate file and apply it to a test server (CTP software should never be run in production).

There’s also a CTP release of SP1 for SQL Server 2008 Express available here.

If you’re one of those folks who waits for the first service release of a product before evaluating it, or if you’re an early deployer who wants to prepare for SP1 (and if you’re an early deployer, I hope you want to prepare for SP1) – go get it!.
