Partner competency points and certification
If you work in an MSPP (Microsoft Partner Program) organization, your employer might be wondering how many partner competency points your 'new generation' credentials--MCTS, MCITP, MCPD, and MCA--earn. You could point them to page 13 of the MSPP Program Guide for all the details. For your reference, here is the table in question:

Does anyone else listen to Jon Kertzer's Monday night show on KEXP? It is so rad.

Hello Trika Not that I'm complaining but do you have an answer to the rationale behind why the MCPD is worth 3 points but the MCITP counts for only 2 points. Especially in light of the fact, that the MCPD is replacing both the MCAD (2 poitns) and the MCSD (3 points) parts of the developer track, depending on how many exams you take. It's unfair! Why MCDBA = MCA? MCDBA = MCA + DB. Therefore, MCDBA should worth 4 points.Anonymous

I'm not sure whether the previous commenter is joking ("Why MCDBA = MCA?"), but I did have a similar reaction; I'd have expected the MCA certification to be worth significantly more points, given how difficult it is to attain.Anonymous

I don't under stand the logic behind the 4 MCLC limitation. A MCLC must be a MCT. Even if the MCLC is MOS Master MCLC, he can still get 3 points from his MCT credential. What's the reason behind the restriction. Did a Office training provider "convert" all its 40 MOS Master Instructors into MCLC to get the Gold Parnter state?Anonymous

Um, you broke the DBA cert, MS, now you're going to devalue it further? There is no MCDBA in SQL Server 2005. Yet inexplicably, the MCDBA is listed in "Category 3", the same level as MCSE and MCSD. In reality, we SQL 2005 DBAs and DBDevs can only earn an MCITP now. Which is worth less. Looks like those who said MS devalued the DBA certification in SQL 2005 were quite correct.Anonymous

Something that I haven't been able to find a clear answer on yet, is do you earn points for all certifications that each person has? For example, let's say one person has MCP (1), MCSA (2), MCSE (3), and MCDBA (3) - does this mean the company would be able to earn 9 points from this person?Anonymous

In answer to the last comment, points are not cumulative, so in the example above, only 3 points would be awarded.Anonymous
