If you were about to ask about Server or Forefront beta exams...
...hold up a sec while I tell you what I know. We held betas for Forefront exam 71-557 and Windows Server 2008 transition exams 70-648 and 70-649 (learn more about the 2003 to 2008 transition path) at TechEd last week, because it is a great way to find a lot of the right candidates in one place at one time. However, we will likely have additional seats to fill on those betas, and will follow the standard beta process to invite target customers. We are not taking a waiting list or promising seats to individuals, unfortunately; if you’d like to participate you need to review the information listed here . If you have participated before, you will likely receive an invite—but there is a lot of interest and we can’t guarantee a spot to anyone. I hope you get one, though. I'm pulling for you!
- The MCTS and MCITP track exams for Windows Server 2008 will beta months from now; the only thing in beta is the transition exams
- For the Windows Server 2008 exams, register for this voucher so if you don't catch the beta you can save 40% on the live exams.
- Charter certs for Windows Server? Word on the street is that the first 1,000 people to pass 70-648 and 70-649 will earn charter MCTS credentials
- Trainers y MSFT employees... check the MCT newsgroups and the internal beta DLs (see //infoweb/learning) as appropriate for your beta info.

I know MCSE should take 649 instead of 648. However, in my past exprience, the upgrade exams will be harder to pass than the normal exams. This time both 648 and 649 are upgrade exams. Will MCSA 648 easier to pass than the MCSE 649? Imagine that, MCSEs taking the beta will generally getting higher scores then MCSAs. Than means, if similar statistic method is used to set the bars for 648 and 649. The skill level you need to pass 649 will be higher than 648. Do you agree?Anonymous

Will there be beta-exams 71-648, 71-649 for who didn't attend last Tech-Ed in the US? Ken Rosen suggested in the MCT cetification newsgroup "if you want a quick update, post a question on Trika's blog."Anonymous

We are making sure the exam centers are ready to take registrations and have people sit the exams; I will post the codes (for MCSA/MCSE 2003 use only) here as soon as I get confirmation that everything will work.Anonymous
