Our Cat Killed the TV - why we're not going HD

Whilst we were on holiday a few weeks ago one of our cats was sick INTO the back of our television! She likes to sit up there as it's nice and warm. Fortunately she wasn't hurt though the TV faired less well.

We were left with a dilema as we had to replace the TV and the temptation to purchase a High Definition LCD TV was hard to resist. James' post about HD re-enforced my reservation that this would lead to a major technology refresh.

I'm sure we'll go HD sooner or later though for now we're choosing to avoid replacing the following:

  • Our Satellite receiver - we'd have to move to a HD subscription which is more expensive
  • The TV card in our Media Centre
  • Our XBox - I know it would work on a HD screen but the temptation to spashout on a 360 would be relentless.

I can't wait to get a 360 but it will have to wait for now.

See http://blogs.technet.com/keithcombs/archive/2006/02/06/418891.aspx for my journey into the world of HDTV.

I'm not sure how to handle cat puke though...  :(

Blake> She's completely oblivious - as I stated in the post she was absolutely fine - like you that's all I was really bothered about :-)

Glad to hear your (very cute) ginger cat is OK! I think there's a strong positive correlation between cat ownership and involvement in the security industry; presumably it's a stress thing :)

Of course I hope that if you replace the TV with a plasma or TFT that you'll find a suitable alternative sleeping place for the cat; mine is quite happy sleeping in a laptop bag!

Nik> That's the funny thing - she used to sit on the top of the PC Monitor - another nice warm place - that was until it was replaced with a TFT monitor!

She's a lovely cat - if only she'd realise that I don't get up @ "stupid O'clock" on the weekends and holidays!
