Spotlighting just a few of the small business around the UK who are producing innovative solutions, here's a guest blog from Yorkshire Business World.

There has been a communication revolution taking place over recent years, with social media changing the way we communicate both within our private life, but also within business.  However many businesses have maintained a healthy distrust of the technology, uncertain where the real benefits are and concerned about the transparency and accountability that comes as a natural by-product.

We wanted to use the technology to create something different which we hope to create real, long-term value for businesses within our region.  The result was Yorkshire Business World, a regional social media platform that puts businesses as opposed to individuals at its heart.

Our goal is to make Yorkshire an easier place to do business by encouraging, support, promotion and collaboration.  We have integrated an array of Web 2.0 tools –VoiP, Blogs, Groups, Forum, Webinar, Video, Events, Polls and much more- into the platform with the vision of creating a feature rich platform which will add value to business and improve communication between suppliers, customers and collaborators.

    Agreed, It’s hard at first — especially for writers because most work is edited. But practice and the realization it helps you become a better writer eases the “personalizing” of things.
