Change the columns shown in the view in in Advanced Find

It may not be immediately obvious, but you can change the columns in Advanced Find the same way you change them in a normal mail view:

1. Tools | Advanced Find
2. Execute the search
3. Right click on a column heading such as Subject and choose Field Chooser
4. Drag the appropriate field into the advanced find window

If you File | Save Search, you can save that search query as a file that will execute the search when you click on it. View customizations will be persisted in that file as well.

Speaking of the find window, is it possible to easily change the categories of all the messages that are displayed in it? When I right click a message in a standard folder, I can select "Categories", and give it a category. However, for whatever reason, there is no "Categories" menu option for the context menu of the find window. This requires me to open up each message individually, and assign the category there.

Am I missing something, or is that the easiest way to assign a category to a message via Search? I'm using Outlook 2003, btw.

Andy: I don't know of a way around that, sorry... one of the main limitations of the outlook programmability model to my knowledge is that you can't customize right-click menus.

My biggest complaint with Advanced Find is that you can't really do anything with the results, like changing the Category for all the found items. I would love to be able to run an advanced find and then send a new message to all the found contacts for instance, but there is no option for this anywhere in the advanced find window that I can see. Adding more functionality to Advanced Find would be a nice gift. :)
