Blogging in a sunny winterland
David, Jared and I are currently vacationing in sunny Ft. Myers, Florida. Because of that, (and more importantly, because I agree with John Porcaro that some personal content on tech/business blogs is nice and allows for a better understanding of the blogger and a deeper conversation), some of the entries over the next week will not be closely related to Exchange & Outlook. Consider yourself warned. :-)
- We helped my mom purchase a new laptop this week, as the one she has been using (which was on the verge of being outdated when I sold it to her a few years ago) is hobbling along and we're tired of supporting an older operating system. I thought it was particularly nifty that it came with OneNote pre-installed, given that OneNote is one of my favorite new applications (although I am fairly entrenched in the software world, I don't spend nearly enough time trying out new apps, but OneNote has wiggled its way onto my computers and my heart). And because I'm a keyboard junkie, Marc Orchant from OfficeZealot points at this list of OneNote keyboard shortcuts as well as some other useful OneNote information.
- Has anyone written a “blog name generator“ that uses the following formula: Irreverent adjective + unrelated noun, where noun is often an animal? There's FurryGoat, MonkeyBagel, SpangleMonkey, KilgoreTrout, RabidMonkey... One can only conclude from my intensive scientific study of blog names that monkeys are inherently funny.
- A few months ago, a good friend of mine said the following regarding spam, and I thought it was worthy of reprinting: “We spent the 90's all trying to figure out how to get email and the 00's trying to figure out how to not get email.“

I don't know about the others, but Kilgore Trout was the name of Kurt Vonnegut's favorite character (he appeared in many of his books). - Anonymous

I think I ended up just plugging a few words in one of those "domainname" search tools, which is how I ended up with furrygoat.com . Good thing though - I almost did "cheesepond.com" - Anonymous

David and I were considering getting shavedpenguin.com to host our blogs rather than move to asp.net, because have you ever SEEN a penguin shaved? Didn't think so. - Anonymous

Believe it or not, the name came from my 7 year old daughter, who put it on a piece of masking tape I found under the kitchen table. - Anonymous

Oh that's pretty cute =) Maybe I should rename my blog to 'droolmonster' since that's what my son does on the kitchen table. - Anonymous
