MSDN Roadshow – Windows Client Technologies

The MSDN Mid-Atlantic Roadshow rides again…our next series of roadshow events kicks off later this month in Reston, VA. Currently, we’ve got the Reston event, and also a roadshow stop scheduled for Richmond, VA in March. We’ll have more cities to announce soon, but I wanted to get word out about these ASAP!

Reston, VA – February 24th, 2009

Richmond, VA – March 11th10th, 2009

Here’s the initial agenda:

Welcome to the Mid-Atlantic Roadshow! This one-day Roadshow series focuses on Windows Client application development. Topics covered include:

  • Building Windows forms applications including gadgets for the front-end, using the Entity Framework and ADO.NET Data Services to communicate with data sources and deploying Windows applications with the ClickOnce deployment technology
  • Creating rich user experience applications with Windows Presentation Foundation (WPF), comparing WPF applications with Windows forms applications, and how they can host/interop with each other
  • Developing XAML browser applications (XBAP) -- WPF applications running in Internet Explorer, and turning WPF applications to Silverlight applications
  • Building and deploying Windows forms applications to mobile devices, and working with Silverlight for Windows Mobile

The first content is still being tweaked, so the final version may vary a bit from this first cut, but the idea is that you can spend a day with us, and walk away with a reasonable overview of the available technologies for building client applications on Windows, including gadgets and Windows Mobile.

Hope you can join us!

Do you know if they are going to do one of these in the Raleigh area?

Not sure what the roadshow plans are for Raleigh, as that falls under the purview of some of my colleagues to the south. Brian Hitney is one of those folks, and you can find his blog at http://www.structuretoobig.com/
