Updated drivers to fix AMD dual-core video playback glitching in Windows Media Center

A while back, Dave Fleischman posted a link to a processor update package published by AMD that has helped a lot of customers fix glitching video playback that has been seen in Windows Media Center on some dual-core AMD systems.

We found out over this past weekend that the update package pointed to in that old blog post is now out of date. As a result, Dave has posted an update on his blog today that contains a link to a new version of the processor package that has been published by AMD.

If anyone is still seeing video glitching issues in Windows Media Center and you have a dual-core AMD processor, please try installing the updated processor package and see if it helps solve this issue on your system.

    HOW DO I ESTABLISH IF I HAVE A "AMD dual-core video playback"MY COMPUTER IS A HP MEDIA CENTER MODEL "M7260N" I CAN PLAYBACK AUDIO FILES AND SOME VIDEOS I PURCHASED FROM THE STORE..BUT WITHOUT FAIL EVERY TIME I TRY TO PLAY A MOVIE VIDEO I CREATED AND I TRY TO OPEN THE FILE IT FREEZES..I NEVER EXPIERENCED THIS IN THE PAST..I CAN PLAYBACK THE SAME VIDEO ON MY LAPTOP AND IT WORKS FINE. I WAS ADVISED TO TRY AND UPDATE MY DRIVERS..I TRIED THAT AND I WAS PROMPTED THAT THERE WAS NO UPDATED DRIVERS FOR MY COMPUTER.. PLEASE HELP !!!!!!!

    Hi TDamon83 - I'm not sure exactly how to determine whether this glitching issue is affecting your system.  However, it doesn't sound like this is the cause of the issue on your system.  On the systems we saw this issue on, the video would play, but it would periodically stutter, but it would continue to play. In cases that I've dealt with in the past, this type of playback problem was caused by a driver problem.  Where were you looking for updated drivers for your system?  If you don't find any on Windows Update, then I'd suggest also going directly to the web site for the manufacturer of your video card and search there for updates as well (if you haven't already).
