news of the world

Nothing about a queen album nor a tabloid here. Just a quick note before I do a (gasp) real post. My faithful readers already know that I changed jobs recently. Despite my best intentions, it's had quite a negative impact on my blogging. Sure I'm busier, but as I've mentioned before, a blog entry really only takes me a few minutes, so it's not a time issue. The problem is that my new team is so dang smart they don't inspire me to rant. Not to say that my previous team was dumb, but they did find a way to inspire me to write more. Some of it, I'm sure, is due to the size of the team (my old team was several orders of magnitude larger than this team). Another big part is that I don't work on a product anymore. I'm basically part consultant, part trainer, and part researcher. I continue to work on campus, and work with several of the product teams, but I'm not involved in the day to day business of shipping a software product, so I miss out on some of that dynamic.

I do end up spending a lot more time looking at what's going on in the testing industry. As I get a bit more involved in that community, I'm sure things will pick up. We're also considering creating a team blog. If that happens, I may shut this down and just contribute there.

Other random news: I finished the article I mentioned in my last post. I'll post here if/when it gets published.
