Does Teams now accommodate 5,000 attendees for a meeting? I am doing a Town Hall soon.

Is it true that Teams can now accommodate up to 5,000 meeting attendees in a meeting? I have a distribution list of 1500 people and need to get my invite OUT today. I was going to put the DL into the "Optional" line of the invite. Will I be okay? I'm getting the message at the top of my screen that says "....X contains at least 1000 recipients." That makes me nervous.

I read some Q&A about this but see conflicting info on MS pages.

Thank you!

Jackie

    Hi @Rostow, Jacquelyn (Spectrum EE),

    Welcome to Q&A!

Based on official document (Get started with town hall in Microsoft Teams), a town hall can host up to 10,000 attendees or up to 20,000 attendees with Teams Premium.

It should function well if you would like to invite a distribution groups of 1500 members.

If I misunderstand your real question, please kindly share the screenshot of the messages popping up when you attempt to add the distribution group into the "Optional" line as well as some links you mentioned that might have conflict information in the Q&A site.
