Windows 2012 - Expand Disk Problem

Hello, I have a virtual machine running Windows Server 2012, and I'm trying to extend the OS disk from 128GB to 256GB.

I shut down the VM and expanded the disk size in Azure to 256GB. However, when I try to extend the disk using Windows Disk Management (inside windows), I can't because a "Recovery" partition (500mb) is blocking the unallocated space from merging with the OS partition.

I have daily backups of the VM in Azure. Would it make sense to delete the recovery partition to allow expansion ? Or is there another way to solve this issue? Thanks!

    Hi,

    Deleting the recovery partition will cause you to lose the recovery tools. The recovery partition contains tools that help you troubleshoot and repair your Windows installation. If something goes wrong with your system, you won't have the built-in recovery options to fall back on. Without it, you can only revert the VM with the checkpoints.
