Cannot Delete my Azure Dev Testlab

Hello Everyone

I created a test DevTest Labs environment which did not deploy for hours I tried deleting the DevTest Labs instance to avoid billing - the Storage Account and Key Vaults were removed, but the DevTest Labs resource is still there and in a "Failed" state.

I've tried deleting the resource via the Azure Portal several times, it takes hours and its not working, then i tried the cloud sgell (powershell) command "az lab delete --name Az-Devtest --resource-group dev-testlab --yes --no-wait"

i got this error code

(ResourceNotReady) The resource 'Az-Devtest' of type 'microsoft.devtestlab/labs' is not yet ready for the requested operation.

Code: ResourceNotReady

Message: The resource 'Az-Devtest' of type 'microsoft.devtestlab/labs' is not yet ready for the requested operation.

Is there another way I can delete the resource?

Have you checked if you have created any resources manually?
Delete a lab

When you delete a lab from a resource group, DevTest Labs automatically deletes:

All VMs in the lab.

All resource groups associated with those VMs.

All resources that DevTest Labs automatically created during lab creation.

DevTest Labs doesn't delete the lab's resource group itself and doesn't delete any resources you manually created in the lab's resource group.
The resources might be the cause for the error message "The resource 'Az-Devtest' of type 'microsoft.devtestlab/labs' is not yet ready for the requested operation."

You can also try using the --no-wait flag to avoid waiting for the operation to complete synchronously: az lab delete --resource-group <YourResourceGroupName> --name <YourLabAccountName> --no-wait

Make sure that the resource group name, lab account name, and other relevant details are correct and accurate.

You can use the Azure REST API to forcefully delete the resource. Here’s how to send a DELETE request: curl -X DELETE -H "Authorization: Bearer <your_access_token>" \ "https://management.azure.com/subscriptions/<your_subscription_id>/resourceGroups/<YourResourceGroupName>/providers/Microsoft.LabServices/labaccounts/<YourLabAccountName>?api-version=2019-01-01-preview"

Make sure you replace <your_access_token>, <your_subscription_id>, <YourResourceGroupName>, and <YourLabAccountName> with your actual values. To get Access token use command: az account get-access-token --query accessToken --output tsv

I am still getting the same error code with the REST API

Thanks for reporting this issue. I was able to reproduce this issue in-house. This is indeed a bug from the Dev Test Labs. I have reached out to product team and they are aware of this issue and currently working on the fix and is tentatively to be deployed over a weekend. I would recommend you to wait till the weekend and try deletion again if it still shows up in the dev test labs.
