Don't know whether I've selected the right tag for this, but anyway.

I've created a table visual within Power BI and I wanted to have a filter within the table itself to search for values within the table based on text, i.e. say I have a name value and I wanted to search within the table for individuals with "Smith" in their name.

You can add visuals to every project using the "Get more visuals" option from the Vizualizations menu.

You could chose text filter from Microsoft, or another visual from someone else

    Hi Richard Linderman,

Thank you for reaching out to us on Microsoft Q&A forum.

You can add the slicer visual and then go to the more options (three dots) in the visual header. There, you can find the 'Search' option. If you enable that, you will get the search functionality in the slicer. Kindly refer the below screenshot.User's image

    Hi Richard,

If the previous answers didn't help you, I recommend using the method that Syed has mentioned above. To make sure that there is no confusion with the method, I will list out the steps in bullet points.

    • Add a slicer visual to your Power BI workspace
    • Make sure that the slicer has data (You can do this by changing the field section or by dragging and dropping the preferred data onto the slider itself).
    • Hover over the slicer and press the "More Options" button (Three dots button) and press "Search" User's image Hope this helps, please make sure to accept this answer if it works for you!
      Regards.
