Is this actually valid. I have 2 win 11 computers and this log in pin thing is about to drive me crazy. I do not want to have to log in with a pin or password every time I start up or even wake up my computers, and have read several sets of directions on how to get rid of this, and have tried several times but without success. Best I have been able to do is change from pin to password or vice versa. This appears to say this method will work, but it sounds like something I have already tried.

None of the options outlined in this discussion worked. However I did find a process which did work perfectly.

Here it is in detail:

Step 1: Enable Automatic Login

Open the Registry Editor:

Press Windows + R, type regedit, and press Enter.

Navigate to the Registry Key:

Go to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\Winlogon.

Modify Registry Values:

Double-click on DefaultUserName and ensure it is set to your local account name.

Double-click on DefaultPassword (if it does not exist, create it as a String Value) and set it to your password. Since you want no password, leave it blank.

Double-click on AutoAdminLogon and set its value to 1.

Create a New Value:

If the AutoAdminLogon value is not present, create a new String Value named AutoAdminLogon and set its value to 1.

Step 2: Disable Lock Screen

Open Group Policy Editor:

Press Windows + R, type gpedit.msc, and press Enter.

Navigate to the Policy:

Go to Computer Configuration > Administrative Templates > Control Panel > Personalization.

Enable "Do not display the lock screen":

Find and double-click Do not display the lock screen.

Set it to Enabled and click OK.

Step 3: Ensure Your Application Starts Automatically

Add the Application to the Startup Folder:

Press Windows + R, type shell:startup, and press Enter.

Place a shortcut to your application in this folder.

Step 4: Adjust Power Settings

Open Power Options:

Press Windows + R, type powercfg.cpl, and press Enter.

Modify Advanced Power Settings:

Ensure that the computer is set to never sleep or hibernate.

Go to Change plan settings > Change advanced power settings.

Expand Sleep and set Sleep after and Hibernate after to Never.

Step 5: Additional Tweaks

Task Scheduler:

If the above steps don't work, you can create a Task Scheduler task to start your application at logon.

Open Task Scheduler (Windows + R, type taskschd.msc, and press Enter).

Create a new task, set it to trigger At logon, and configure it to start your application.

Troubleshooting

If the computer still prompts for input at the lock screen or doesn't start the application, check:

Windows Updates:

Ensure that Windows is fully updated, as some updates might affect auto-login behavior.

User Account Control (UAC):

Disable UAC temporarily to see if it's causing the issue. Search for User Account Control settings, drag the slider to Never notify, and restart the computer.

Startup Application Permissions:

In the Windows Settings, select "Accounts" from the options.

On the left-hand sidebar, click on "Sign-in options."

Scroll down to the "Require Windows Hello sign-in for Microsoft accounts" section.

You might be prompted to enter your current PIN or password to proceed.

If you have a PIN set up and want to remove it, select "Password" as the option. If you have a password set up and want to remove it, you will need to change it to a PIN first by selecting "PIN."

If you chose "Password," you'll be prompted to enter your current password for verification.

To remove the password, simply leave the fields for creating a new password and confirming the new password blank.

To apply the changes, you may need to restart your computer. After the restart, you should no longer be prompted to enter a PIN or password when logging in.

To log in without a PIN or password in Windows 11, you will need to remove the PIN and password from your account. Here are the steps to do so:

Open the Settings app by clicking on the Start menu and selecting the gear icon.

Click on "Accounts" and then select "Sign-in options" from the left-hand menu.

Under "Manage how you sign in to your device", click on "Password" and then click "Remove".

Follow the prompts to remove your password.

Next, click on "PIN" and then click "Remove".

Follow the prompts to remove your PIN.

After completing these steps, you will no longer be prompted to enter a PIN or password when logging in to your local account.

Well none of that works? i can change PIn but Remove is greyed out, netplwiz when i untick box that states user must enter password, all this stupid thing does is create 2 login accounts for same user both requiring passwords....? millions peeople just want start there pc at home without a poxy password. Just create a simple button that turns all password/pins/photos stupid fingerprint options all off! Simple
