Create an intercompany sales order

Completed

You can start an intercompany chain from the original sales order that you create for an external customer.

The main advantage of this process is a complete intercompany chain that has all sales orders and purchase orders linked to one another. For example, you can use the process when a sales company has insufficient available inventory to satisfy the demand of a specific sales order.

An intercompany chain is a supply chain that spans between legal entities. Therefore, based on an original sales order from an external customer, the system creates an intercompany purchase order that triggers the creation of an intercompany sales order at the vendor company, such as at the production plant.

Scenario

Southridge Video DE-016 has ordered items from DEMF company. Unfortunately, no inventory is available; therefore, the sales representative for DEMF must order these items from USMF.

The sales representative creates an original sales order for an external customer. Then, they create a purchase order directly from the Sales order page. Because an intercompany vendor is set up as a standard vendor for the ordered item, the sales representative creates an intercompany sales order in the USMF company account.
