Exercise – Set up a warranty

Your company has acquired a new blender (BLN-101) that comes with a two-year warranty. You need to add the warranty information and then associate the asset type to the warranty. Go to Asset Management > Setup > Assets > Warranty, select New, and then follow these steps:

  1. In the Warranty field, enter 2 YR.
  2. In the Name field, enter 2 year warranty for a description.
  3. Select Save to save this information.
  4. On the Warranty lines FastTab, select Add line. The Line field automatically enters a sequential number. In this case, the number will be 01 because you are adding a new type of warranty.
  5. In the Period field, select Year from the drop-down menu.
  6. In the Interval field, enter the number 2 to reflect that this is a two-year warranty.
  7. In the Percent field, enter 100 percent for this warranty.

Now that you have created the warranty agreement, you need to associate it to the blender asset type.

  1. Go to Asset Management > Setup > Asset types > Asset types.
  2. Select Blender from the list of assets and then select Asset type defaults from the top menu.
  3. When the Asset type defaults page appears, select Edit.
  4. On the General FastTab, go to the Vendor warranty drop-down menu and select 2 YR.
