Retail data solutions is built on the robust capabilities of Microsoft Fabric. It offers a powerful and flexible way for you to manage your retail challenges and seize opportunities. You can deploy these solutions in your dedicated retail data solutions workspace.

Personas and scenarios

For the exercises in this module, you assume the role of Oscar, the Global Administrator and Jessie Irwin, the Fabric workspace Administrator to complete the following tasks:

  • Create a new trial tenant, obtain a Microsoft 365 E3 (no Teams) trial, and then set up users and assign licenses.

  • Obtain a Microsoft Fabric trial.

  • Activate and deploy Retail data solutions.

Prerequisites

Make sure that you meet the following prerequisites for deploying Retail data solutions:

  • Microsoft Fabric capacity license SKU F2 onward (F32+ recommended) or Microsoft Power BI Premium license

  • You need to be a Fabric admin or tenant admin who can create workspaces in Power BI and change tenant settings  

  • Tenant subscription that has Microsoft Fabric available and enough Fabric capacity to deploy Retail data solutions

  • Knowledge of the following technologies:

    • Microsoft Fabric platform

    • Notebook

    • Lakehouse

    • PySpark/Spark
