Integrate Teams with third-party or existing conferencing solutions
Interoperability with 3rd party or existing conferencing solutions is crucial for organizations that have invested in other conferencing solutions. Cloud Video Interop (CVI) is a Microsoft Qualified third-party solution that allows third-party video room devices to join Microsoft Teams meetings. Additionally, Microsoft Teams Rooms devices support Direct Guest Join, enabling seamless integration with online meetings hosted on Cisco, Webex, and Zoom.
Cloud Video Interop (CVI)
Cloud Video Interop (CVI) is a Microsoft Qualified third-party solution that enables third-party SIP and H.323 video room devices (VTCs) to join Microsoft Teams meetings. As an admin, you can set CVI for your org.
With Microsoft Teams, you get rich online content collaboration in meetings that include audio, video, and content sharing. This collaboration can be enjoyed through the desktop and web client, and through many partner devices that integrate natively with Microsoft Teams. However, many customers have already invested in video communication devices, which can be expensive to upgrade. CVI provides an easy solution, which allows you to keep using your existing solutions until you're ready to upgrade.
With CVI, Microsoft Teams delivers a native meeting experience for all participants – in meeting rooms or inside of Teams clients.
CVI uses Teams endpoints to provide an intermediate service while you transition to a full native Microsoft Teams Solution. The service provided should be part of your migration path.
CVI is intended for customers who meet the following criteria:
Have a large deployment of meeting room devices and personal video devices deployment (50+ devices) that aren't qualified for direct integration with Microsoft Teams.
Are supported by one of our CVI partners.
Want to retain the value of their investment in their current meeting room devices and personal video devices while transitioning to a Microsoft Teams solution.
Direct Guest Join
Microsoft Teams Rooms devices support a one-touch experience for joining third-party online meetings, also referred to as Direct Guest Join. When enabled, you can use Teams Rooms to join meetings hosted on Cisco, Webex, and Zoom just as easily as you can join meetings hosted in Microsoft Teams. Keep in mind that in this case, the experience in Teams Rooms of the third-party online meeting is driven by the third-party online meeting provider.
Supported devices and services:
Teams Rooms on Windows, all certified models – Zoom, Cisco Webex, BlueJeans by Verizon
Teams Rooms on Android, all certified models – Zoom, Cisco Webex
SIP and H.323 devices
SIP and H.323 dialing is a feature that is only available on Microsoft Teams Rooms on Windows and each of those devices that will use SIP and H.323 dialing must have a Microsoft Teams Pro license assigned.
This feature enables calls between Teams Rooms devices and other conferencing devices that support either SIP or the H.323 protocol. By turning this feature on, it will let Teams Rooms interoperate with approved SIP and H.323 meeting devices to place, receive, or block calls from meeting endpoints that can be both internal or external to your organization. However, SIP and H.323 dialing is disabled by default in your organization so to enable this, you must use Microsoft Teams PowerShell.
If you have multiple Teams Rooms all with a Pro licenses deployed in your organization, you can configure SIP and H.323 dialing for one or all of your Teams Rooms.
Note
This feature is only available for Microsoft Teams Rooms for Windows and won't work with Teams Rooms for Android in your organization.
