Maintenance downtime

Completed

It is possible that while an asset is undergoing maintenance, it will not be available for use. For example, if a particular asset is used in production and will not be available for a specific period of time, you would want to note that detail so that it would not be scheduled for a production job. To show that an asset as down, you first need to set up reason codes for the downtime.

Create maintenance downtime reason codes

Before scheduling a maintenance downtime, you need to create the maintenance downtime reason code. Follow these steps to create the downtime reason code:

  1. Go to Asset management > Setup > Work orders > Maintenance downtime reason codes and select New.
  2. In the Maintenance downtime reason code field, enter an ID for the maintenance downtime reason code. This ID could be something like Maintenance or Breakdown.
  3. In the Name field, enter a name that describes this code, such as Breakdown stop.
  4. Select the KPI include check box if the reason code should be included in calculations of key performance indicators (KPIs) for the asset. This situation happens if the reason code will affect the expected performance. In general, because planned production stops don’t affect performance, they are not added to KPI calculations.
  5. Select Save.

After you have set up your reason codes, select a specific asset on a work order as having downtime.

Create maintenance downtime registrations

Now that you have a maintenance downtime reason code, follow these steps to create a maintenance downtime registration:

  1. Go to Asset management > Work orders > All work orders or Active work orders and select the work order.

  2. On the Work order tab, select Maintenance downtime.

  3. The Maintenance downtime page appears. Select New to schedule the downtime.

  4. In the From field, enter the date and time when the downtime will start. In the To field, enter the date and time that the downtime is scheduled to end.

After you have entered the dates, the Duration field is automatically calculated.

Which calendar is used to calculate a maintenance downtime registration depends on what was selected in the setup of assets and parameters. For example, if a production is selected on an asset on the Fixed asset FastTab of the All assets page, then the production calendar that is set up for the associated asset is used, as shown in the following image.
