Exercise – Create, and adjust a maintenance budget

Completed

You have been asked to create a maintenance budget starting in January, covering a two month period that includes the corrective maintenance budget lines for one year prior to the start date for this budget.

  1. Go to Asset Management > Inquiries > Maintenance budget > Budget and select Create budget. The Create budget dialog box appears.
  2. In the Maintenance budget field, enter MBUD-02.
  3. In the Description field, enter Maintenance budget for two months.
  4. On the Period FastTab, enter 1 January 2020 for the budget start date in the From date and enter 29 February 2020 for the budget end date in the To date field.
  5. In the Corrective from date field, enter 1 January 2019 to account for maintenance budget lines from the previous year.
  6. Select OK.

Now, you have been told that you need to increase the costs for the MBUD-001 maintenance budget by 20 percent.

  1. On the Maintenance budgets page, select the MBUD-001 budget and select Budget lines. The Maintenance budget lines page appears.
  2. Select Adjust. The Adjust selected budget lines dialog box appears.
  3. Select the Multiply cost check box and enter the factor of 1.2 in the Multiply value field. Remember, 1.x increases the budget by the .x number, and 0.x decreases the budget by the .x number. In this case, you want to add a 20 percent increase, so enter 1.2.
  4. When you are finished, select OK and the system will update the budget line accordingly.
