Maintenance budgets provide a place for organizations to forecast expected costs for preventative maintenance on assets. In this module, you will learn the process of creating and updating maintenance budgets in Asset Management for Dynamics 365 Supply Chain Management.

Maintenance budgets provide an overview of expected costs. Your organization might want to have visibility to the costs and budget for preventative maintenance for your truck fleet. You can use Asset Management to create a budget of what the expected costs will be for your preventative maintenance. You can later update the budget with actual costs.

Asset Management uses the following cost types for calculating maintenance budgets:

  • Preventive – This type looks at the maintenance schedule lines that are set to start during the budget period.
  • Corrective – This type looks at past corrective maintenance records that include corrective costs for the budget period.
  • Investment – This type includes budget costs for active assets with a scheduled replacement date during the budget period and their related replacement value.
