Introduction
Intelligent budget proposal is part of the Finance insights functionality that uses machine learning to generate accurate budget proposals within Dynamics 365 Finance.
Intelligent budget proposal can generate budget proposals by using historical data in Finance to forecast future outcomes. Using Intelligent budget proposal helps make the process of comparing the budget against actual results easier. You can compare results by using inquiries and reports that are made to contrast actuals and budgets. The main advantage of this feature is being able to generate an accurate budget proposal without needing to go through the usual repetitive and time-consuming process of creating a budget proposal.

For the Intelligent budget proposal feature to work, Finance must have enough cleansed data. The feature works best if you've between five and 10 years of data to draw from, but in most cases, three years of data is sufficient. Typically, the more data that’s in the system, the more accurate the budget proposal is because it has more information from which to make a conclusion. If approximately 10 years of historical data aren’t in the system, consider cleansing previous historical data that might not exist in the system and uploading that as a historical budget.
The phrase cleansing data refers to the process of ensuring that the data is consistent in terms of accounts and financial dimensions.
