Implementation project overview

Completed

The main goal of the teams that are involved in a finance and operations implementation project is to fulfill the customer’s business needs in the given timeframe and budget while managing all risks that appear throughout the journey.

A successful project requires quality in planning, design, and delivery. To achieve the best quality, you will need to consider the elements of the project management triangle: scope, budget, and time.

We also suggest including risks in your project. Having risk management in your project will help mitigate issues or risks that could affect your project if you do not plan proactively, or if you don’t prepare for unexpected circumstances, such as:

  • A moving scope (for example, retail processes are added at the last minute during implementation).
  • Unexpected tasks that impact the timeframe (for example, a new environment is needed, and it takes weeks to purchase it).
  • Unexpected issues that might severely impact the expected budget (for example, late discovery of major performance issues).

In customer escalations, most of the issues could have been identified as risks earlier and mitigated before Go-Live.

Examine your current project and reflect on the following statements:

  • The status of your project regarding the project triangle (scope/time/budget)

  • How far you have gone in detecting and creating a mitigation plan for the major risks when planning, designing, and delivering the solution
