Install the Azure Developer CLI
To get started with the Azure Developer CLI (azd
), you can install the tool locally or use it from a cloud environment such as GitHub Codespaces. You can install the Azure Developer CLI with a single command, and it supports a variety of platforms and environments. This module assumes a local installation of azd
, but you can read more about the pros and cons of the different development-environment choices on the supported environments page.
When you install azd
, the following tools are also installed within azd
scope (meaning they are not installed globally) and are removed if azd
is uninstalled:
- The GitHub CLI
- The Bicep CLI
Install azd
on your preferred environment using one of the following commands:
To verify the installation completed successfully, run the following command:
azd version
The console output should display the currently installed version of azd
