Summary and resources

Completed

In this module, you learned about Direct Routing, a feature in Microsoft Teams that allows users to make and receive external phone calls using the PSTN. Direct Routing replaces the need for a traditional PBX phone system and provides a hybrid, cloud-based telephony solution. You also learned how to configure Direct Routing by connecting a supported SBC to Teams Phone, enabling users for Direct Routing, configuring voice routing, and setting up number translation rules if needed. Direct Routing can be implemented by obtaining it as a service from a provider or by hosting your own SBC for more control and integration with third-party applications.

Now that you reviewed this module, you should be able to:

  • Explain how to configure and connect a Session Border Controller (SBC).

  • Describe the process for configuring simple and advanced voice routing.

  • Describe how to provision users, implement number translation, create, and assign dial plans.

  • Explain how to configure and connect a Survivable Branch Appliance (SBA).
