DateTimeOffset.Second Property

Microsoft Silverlight will reach end of support after October 2021. Learn more.

Gets the second component of the clock time represented by the current DateTimeOffset object.

Namespace:  System
Assembly:  mscorlib (in mscorlib.dll)

Syntax

'Declaration
Public ReadOnly Property Second As Integer
public int Second { get; }

Property Value

Type: System.Int32
The second component of the DateTimeOffset object, expressed as an integer value between 0 and 59.

Remarks

The Second property is not affected by the value of the Offset property.

You can also create a string representation of a DateTimeOffset object's second component by calling the ToString method with the "s", or "ss" custom format specifiers.

Examples

The following example displays the second component of a DateTimeOffset object in three different ways:

  • By retrieving the value of the Second property.

  • By calling the ToString(String) method with the "s" format specifier.

  • By calling the ToString(String) method with the "ss" format specifier.

Dim theTime As New DateTimeOffset(#6/12/2008 9:16:32 PM#, _
                                       DateTimeOffset.Now.Offset)
outputBlock.Text &= String.Format("The second component of {0} is {1}.", _
                  theTime, theTime.Second) & vbCrLf

outputBlock.Text &= String.Format("The second component of {0} is{1}.", _
                  theTime, theTime.ToString(" s")) & vbCrLf

outputBlock.Text &= String.Format("The second component of {0} is {1}.", _
                  theTime, theTime.ToString("ss")) & vbCrLf
' The example produces the following output:
'    The second component of 6/12/2008 9:16:32 PM -07:00 is 32.
'    The second component of 6/12/2008 9:16:32 PM -07:00 is 32.
'    The second component of 6/12/2008 9:16:32 PM -07:00 is 32.
DateTimeOffset theTime = new DateTimeOffset(2008, 6, 12, 21, 16, 32,
                             DateTimeOffset.Now.Offset);
outputBlock.Text += String.Format("The second component of {0} is {1}.",
                  theTime, theTime.Second) + "\n";

outputBlock.Text += String.Format("The second component of {0} is{1}.",
                  theTime, theTime.ToString(" s")) + "\n";

outputBlock.Text += String.Format("The second component of {0} is {1}.",
                  theTime, theTime.ToString("ss")) + "\n";
// The example produces the following output:
//    The second component of 6/12/2008 9:16:32 PM -07:00 is 32.
//    The second component of 6/12/2008 9:16:32 PM -07:00 is 32.
//    The second component of 6/12/2008 9:16:32 PM -07:00 is 32.
