Applies To: Windows Small Business Server 2011 Essentials
Windows SBS 2011 Essentials provides a reliable way to perform regular backups of your server and backups of your home computers to storage drives on the server. In the event of data loss, you can restore the data from a successful backup on the server without restoring the entire computer. If necessary, you can perform a full system restore to your computer from a backup on the server.
Client computer backup and restore
Configuring Backup
Add or remove drives or folders for a client computer backup
Reinstall connector software on a computer with existing backups
While it is not recommended, you can disable backup for a client computer if you want. If you do disable backup for a client computer, you can easily enable it again.
Restoring from an existing backup
If a file becomes corrupt for any reason, or if you want to restore an older version of a file, you can easily restore the file from a backup on the server.
Restoring the full system for a client computer
If the operating system on your client computer should become corrupt for any reason, you can easily perform a full system restore from a backup on your server.
