Modifying the Default Display Name

This topic explains how to use the Active Directory module for Windows PowerShell to modify the default display name when you create a user in Active Directory Users and Computers.

Example

The following example demonstrates how to modify the default display name when you create a user in Active Directory Users and Computers:

Set-ADObject 'CN=user-Display,CN=409,CN=DisplaySpecifiers,CN=Configuration,DC=NORTHWIND,DC=COM' -Partition 'CN=Configuration,DC=NORTHWIND,DC=COM' -Replace @{CreateDialog="%<sn>, %<givenName>"}

Additional information

You can use the following parameters when you set many of the common values that are associated with Active Directory objects:

  • -Description

  • -DisplayName

  • -ProtectedFromAccidentalDeletion
