Managing telephony from the command line

Applies To: Windows Server 2003, Windows Server 2003 R2, Windows Server 2003 with SP1, Windows Server 2003 with SP2, Windows Server 2008, Windows Server 2008 R2, Windows Server 8 Beta

Managing telephony from the command line

In addition to the Telephony console, you can use command-line utilities to manage telephony servers and clients. For example, you can use Tapicfg to create, remove, or display a TAPI application directory partition, publish a service connection point for a TAPI application directory partition, or set a default TAPI application directory partition.

You can use Tsecimp to import assignment information from an Extensible Markup (XML) file into a telephony server security file (tsec.ini) and to set up or disable telephony clients.

For information about other command-line utilities, see Command-line reference A-Z. For more information about manageability, see Management Strategies and Tools.

Note

  • If your telephony clients or servers run Windows NT 4.0 or Windows 2000, you must run tcmsetup to set up telephony clients. If your telephony clients run Windows XP or a Windows Server 2003 operating system, and your telephony servers run Windows Server 2003 , you can set up telephony clients by adding the Windows Remote Service Provider to your clients instead. To add the Windows Remote Service Provider, see Add a telephony service provider.
