Configuring Remote Domains

Applies To: Windows Server 2003, Windows Server 2003 R2, Windows Server 2003 with SP1

You can set unique delivery requirements for a specific remote domain by adding a domain and configuring it accordingly. For example, you can set a predetermined delivery route, set authentication, and require that Transport Layer Security (TLS) encryption be used on all connections to the domain. If the remote domain is not specifically configured, the SMTP service will not perform any of these operations when delivering to this domain. It will, however, complete a normal DNS lookup.
