Use this dialog box to:
Save captured data in a file (.cap) that you can view in Network Monitor at a later time.
Save a capture or display filter that you have designed or edited.
Save an address database to a file.
Save a text file to which you can print frame data.
- Save in
The drive and directory that you want to save the file to.
- File name
The name to save the file as.
Save as type
The file format of the information that you want to save. Network Monitor uses these default file types and file name extensions:File type File name extension Capture files
.cap
Capture filters
.cf
Display filters
.df
Address files
.adr
Print files
.txt
- Range
In the From and To boxes, specify the numerical range of the frames that you want to save in the capture file. When you save a range of frames to a capture file, the numbers associated with the frames are changed. In a capture file, frame numbers always begin with 1, regardless of the number associated with the original frame. Similarly, if you apply a display filter and then save the filtered frames, the frame numbers in the capture file begin with 1. If, on the other hand, you select Print To File in the Print dialog box, the original frame numbers associated with the frames are preserved.
- Filtered
Applies the current display filter to the capture data when the data is being saved. When you select this check box, the saved frames are renumbered so that no gaps appear in the sequence. By default, this check box is cleared.
Note
- The From, To, and Filtered options are available only when you are saving a capture file from the Frame Viewer window.
