Configuring an Application to Call a Web Service Extension
Applies To: Windows Server 2003, Windows Server 2003 R2, Windows Server 2003 with SP1, Windows Server 2003 with SP2, Windows Server 2008
Before an application can call a Web service extension, you must configure the application to make calls to that extension. A Web service extension can accept calls from more than one application.
Important
You must be a member of the Administrators group on the local computer to perform the following procedure or procedures. As a security best practice, log on to your computer by using an account that is not in the Administrators group, and then use the runas command to run IIS Manager as an administrator. At a command prompt, type runas /User:Administrative_AccountName "mmc %systemroot%\system32\inetsrv\iis.msc".
Procedures
To allow an application to call a Web service extension
In IIS Manager, expand the local computer, and then click Web Service Extensions.
Click Add and allow extensions for a specific application.
From the Application list box, click the name of the application. The Web service extension that the application is allowed to call appears in the Extensions to be allowed box.
Click OK.
