Back up the Recorded TV folders on a client computer
Applies To: Windows Home Server 2011
The Recorded TV folder is not automatically backed up on a client computer. To backup recorded TV files, you can save the files to the Recorded TV folder on the server, which is backed up automatically, or you can add the appropriate registry key on the client computer so that the folder can be added to the backup policy.
To include the Recorded TV folder in a client computer backup
On the client computer, click Start, type regedit in the Search programs and files text box, and then click ENTER.
Expand HKEY_Local_Machine, expand Software, expand, Microsoft, and then expand Windows Server.
Right-click Backup, click New, and then click String Value.
Type IncludeMediaCenter as the name of the key.
Right-click IncludeMediaCenter, and then click Modify.
Type True in the Value data text box, and then click OK.
Close Registry Editor.
Click Start, type Services in the Search program and files text box, and then click ENTER.
Click Services.
Scroll down, click Windows Server Client Computer Backup Provider Service, and then click Restart.
Close Services. The Recorded TV folder will automatically be included in the next client computer backup.
