Play songs and create playlists in Remote Web Access
Applies To: Windows Home Server 2011
When you are away from home, you can access the music saved on the Windows Home Server 2011 server in the shared folders, and then play songs using the web-based Media Player. You can also create and play a playlist using the web-based Media Player.
To play music on Remote Web Access
Log on to Remote Web Access.
In the Media Library, click Browse Music.
Note
If you do not have remote media permissions, the media gadgets are not displayed on the website home page. See the person who manages the server for permission to access remote media.
To select how you want to browse the music, click View, and then click the browse option. For information about music browse options, see the Music browse options table.
Select the songs that you want to listen to, and then click Play. A new queue is started, the web-based media player opens, and your selected music starts playing. You can choose:
Play all. When you click Play all, a new queue is started and the first song in the selection begins playing.
Add to queue. If you have not selected songs for the queue, a new queue is started. If you are already playing songs in a queue, the songs that you select are added to the queue.
View, and then select songs individually to play or add to the queue. When you finish selecting songs to play, click Play or Add to queue.

To create and save a playlist
In the Media Library, click Browse Music.
Select the songs that you want to add to the playlist, and then click Add to queue. If you have not selected songs for the queue, a new queue is started, the web-based media player opens, and your selected music starts playing. If you are already playing songs in a queue, the songs that you select are added to the queue. You can also choose:
Play or Play all. When you click Play or Play all, a new queue is started and the first song in the selection begins playing.
View, select a browse options, and then select songs to play or add to the queue. When you finish selecting songs to play, click Add to queue. The songs are added to the queue and the first song in the selection begins playing.
After you create a playlist, click in the web-based Media Player to display the queue.
Click Save queue as a playlist.
Type a name for the playlist in the text box, and then click OK.
