Adding the Windows Firewall Components to Your Configuration

There are two Windows Firewall components: the Windows Firewall and Internet Connection Sharing component, and the Windows Firewall Control Panel component.

The Windows Firewall and Internet Connection Sharing component sets the Windows Firewall to On (recommended), by default, and can be configured to open specific ports and allow specific applications through the firewall.

Note   Avoid using the Off setting because turning off the Windows Firewall may make this computer more vulnerable to viruses and intruders.

The Windows Firewall Control Panel component provides a user interface for the user to adjust the Windows Firewall settings on the device.

To add the Windows Firewall components to your configuration

  1. In Target Designer, click the Search box, type Windows Firewall and Internet Connection Sharing, and then choose the Search icon.

The Windows Firewall And Internet Connection Sharing component is highlighted in the component browser.

  2. Drag the Windows Firewall and Internet Connection Sharing component to the configuration editor pane.

  3. To add the Windows Firewall Control Panel component, repeat the two previous steps.
