Common Uses
Microsoft Update uses BITS to download updates.
Custom applications can use the BITS application programming interface to provide background data transfers when exchanging files or as part of a specialized update schema.
Notes
Devices that use BITS to download data will not persist that data if they also use Enhanced Write Filter with HORM (EWF) or File-Based Write Filter (FBWF) to control write access to storage media.
