Import a .pmq File into Image Configuration Editor (Standard 7 SP1)

You import a .pmq file into Image Configuration Editor (ICE) to discover and include inbox drivers, which are drivers provided by Windows Embedded Standard 7. These drivers match the hardware of a specific device. You can also see a list of hardware devices that do not match any inbox drivers.
New for Windows Embedded Standard Service Pack 1: You import a .pmq file into Image Configuration Editor to discover and include the following types of drivers:
- Inbox drivers, which are drivers provided by Windows Embedded Standard 7.
- Out-of-box drivers, which are additional device drivers not provided by Windows.
You can also see a list of hardware devices that do not match any drivers.
Hardware and Software Assumptions
- You have installed the Windows Embedded Standard 7 Toolkit on a development computer.
- You have a .pmq file for a device. For more information, see Generate a .pmq File Using Target Analyzer.
To import a .pmq file into ICE
In Image Configuration Editor, create an answer file. For more information, see Create an Answer File in Image Configuration Editor.
On the File menu, click Import.
In the Open dialog box, browse to the location where your .pmq file is located, select the .pmq file, and then click Open. You can review the results in the Import PMQ tab of the Messages pane.
New for Windows Embedded Standard Service Pack 1: If Image Configuration Editor identifies multiple drivers for a particular device, the string (multiple drivers) appears in the Device field.
Important
You will see a warning for each device that is not compatible with any drivers.
