Supported Board Support Packages (Windows Embedded CE 6.0)

1/5/2010

Platform Builder for Windows Embedded CE 6.0 provides BSPs for five software development boards (SDBs) or hardware platforms that are readily available for purchase.

These BSPs cover the full range of supported microprocessors in Windows Embedded CE 6.0 and enable you to quickly evaluate various OS features on your hardware platform and reduce your time to market.

For information about the sample BSPs provided in Platform Builder for CE 6.0 and how you can order the hardware platforms for these BSPs, see the following topics:

Third-party BSPs are also available for different versions of Windows Embedded CE. For more information, see Find Board Support Packages.

We recommend that you follow the directions for each BSP. These BSPs are integrated into the integrated development environment (IDE) so you can choose them when you create a project.

For information about creating and using one of these BSPs with your hardware platform, see the specific topic for that BSP.

Hardware Restrictions and Limitations for all Supported BSPs

  • In Windows Embedded CE, several development boards have performance and PCI issues that affect multimedia feature tests. For example, not all hardware platforms can play all media streaming bit rates.
You need a PCI card to test the DVD features.
The Renesas US7750R HARP (Aspen) SDB does not have PCI bus mastering support in hardware.
For more information, see the documentation and release notes for the development board.
  • Because many of the supported SDBs only contain a limited number of PCI slots on board, use a PCI-to-PCI bridge or extender card to do extensive multimedia testing. When you use a PCI extender, some PCI cards do not work on some of the development boards.
