Example Code for Establishing a Session Without Encryption

This code example shows how to establish an unencrypted LDAP connection to an Active Directory server using LDAP version 3. Be aware that the user password is not transmitted over the network in plaintext.

  • Initializes a session (LDAP structure).
  • Sets the LDAP version to three.
  • Sets a bind to the server using the user-login credentials and LDAP_AUTH_NEGOTIATE. Binding in this manner, assures that the user password is not transmitted over the network in plaintext, but the method of authentication used depends on what methods are available on both the client and server.
// Add Wldap32.lib to your project.
// Add Wldap32.dll to your project.

// LDAPSESSION: Run the following code example by passing the server name as a
// command line parameter. If no server name is passed, a serverless bind attempt is performed.
//  Example:
//    ldapsession.exe [server.fabrikam.com]
