IFPCWebPublishingProperties4::TestConnectivity method
Applies to: desktop apps only
The TestConnectivity method performs tests to verify connectivity with the published Web server using the configuration settings defined in the Web publishing rule.

HRESULT TestConnectivity(
[out] BSTR *pbstrTestResult
);
FPCWebPublishingProperties.TestConnectivity( _
ByRef pbstrTestResult As BSTR _
) As String
Parameters
- pbstrTestResult [out]
Pointer to a BSTR that is set on return to a string value specifying the results of the connectivity tests.
Return value
C++
This method returns S_OK if the call is successful; otherwise, it returns an error code.
VB
This method returns a string value that specifies the results of the connectivity tests if successful. Otherwise, an error is raised that can be intercepted by using an error handler.
Remarks
When this method is called, Forefront TMG first attempts to resolve the name specified in the WebSite or PublishedServer property. After the name is resolved to an IP address, Forefront TMG tries to establish a TCP/IP connection with the published Web server. For a publishing rule that requires an SSL connection with the published server, an attempt is made to establish such a connection and to test the certificate for validity according to the configuration settings defined in the rule. Forefront TMG also sends an HTTP GET request to the published server and waits for a response. If a response is received, Forefront TMG compares its authentication requirements and methods to the requirements specified in the configuration settings of the rule.
