FPCSmtpRoute object

Applies to: desktop apps only

The FPCSmtpRoute object represents a single SMTP route that defines how outbound or inbound email traffic is handled in a Forefront TMG array.

Note  SMTP routes can be configured only when the Exchange Edge Transport server role and Forefront Protection for Exchange Server are installed on each Forefront TMG computer in the array.

An SMTP route can be of one of the following two types, depending on the value of the RouteDirection property.

  • An SMTP route to internal mail servers, which are typically located on one or more protected networks, such as the Internal network. In this case, the names and IP addresses of the internal mail servers are configured in the InternalMailServers property, and the domains for which incoming email messages are accepted are configured in the AddressSpaces property.
  • An SMTP route to external mail servers, which are typically located in the External network, that is, on the Internet.

The FPCSmtpRoute object is an element of an FPCSmtpRoutes collection, and a new object representing an SMTP route can be created by calling the Add method of this collection.
